Greetings. I am new to the site and have a question.

My Colt officer model 80 will only function with FMJ ammo. Very new, it has only had about 100 rounds through it. I would like to be able to reliably shoot expanding ammo (hollow points). Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Widen and polish the feed ramp and your good to go.Have a qualified gunsmith preform this.

That is a common problem with todays mass produced pistols. Have a competent gunsmith take a look at it, most likely will have to polish the feed ramp and possibly open the chamber mouth slightly and polish the chamber and check the relationship of the feed ramp to the chamber mouth. I have seen several Kimber pistols where the feed ramp and chamber were not even close to each other when the slide was retracted - they jammed every time!!! The type of magazine you use can also affect feeding. I personally use only Wilson Combat mags in my carry guns but others have had good results with Chip McCormick and Ed Brown mags as well. My $.02 worth, hope it helps!!

Best Regards!
