below is my 3 new 45's. I got the top one from SOG. It is one of the rearsenalled ones. The middle is a Rigaud I just reworked and the bottom one is a Molina which I havent touched yet. The Rigaud was the worst in condition of the two I got last week from century.

I buffed the Rigaud out real good and used BRownells Oxpho Blue on it. I think I will buy a hot blue setup from them before doing my next ones. The Oxpho worked well and looked very dark and full covered until I oiled it up and wiped it down. The frame is very dark and has a great shine to it but the slide thinned out on me when I oiled it doen. Oh well. not bad for a first try......

The rearsenal looks fantastic. Love the grips. The rework you did looks good. Maybe another coat of Oxhpo? I use 0000 steel wool to rub in the Oxpho on my projects. It seems to come out better than a cloth, at least for me. I think it looks like a real Milsurp the way you have it. The bottom one, I think it might be cool just to leave it as is. Looks to have "Been there, done that". I like them all.

Salbo,
The grips on the one from Sog how are they... The one I parked for my friend had new grips on it but they seem real cheap... You tap on them and they seen like a real light wood and sound hollow... The guns look great and I think you will have fun with them, I love 45's they are sweet to shoot :D

1. Apply and get the color depth you want then let set at least 24 hours before you steelwool or oil. This gives it time to cure. Ive got the Hot blue setup but dont have it up and running yet. I'll let you know how she works once its up.

thanks guys.......

Richard, I am going to degrease the slide again and try the steel wool. I used cotton balls. The grips on the Century ones are not broken so I may leave them in place. I think they have character. I will order a couple pair of the rubber ones from CDNN when they come in stock.

Jericho, they are all the same cheap wood grips on all three pair. The rearsenalled one just has new ones. They are a little sharp and need a light sanding to calm them down..CDNN also has the new wood grips in stock now but not the rubber ones.

I am seriously thinking of trying a Wilson CQB copy with this last Molina. Blue the slide and do the frame OD Green with Gun Kote.......or vice versa.......and than ordering two more from Century......:D

thanks Neil, I was thinking about that this afternoon on the way home. I think I will degrease and reblue tomorrow and see what happens.......

Salbo,

Great trio ya got there, my friend!! I love those .45's!! I was just laughing to myself about Redstar cooking his guns in the oven while his wife was out and about... LOL The finish he put on those things was great, though. Maybe I'll try that IF I can ever find the right gun...

I agree, they are all nice. I like the idea of keeping one in original condition, I like well worn guns almost as much as primo ones as long as they function properly. I hate having to see a new scratch etc on a new looking piece, but it happens.

Good job on #2.

I just reblued the middle one again back to a nice dark shiny blue. I will give it till tomorrow to oil it and buff it out. We will see how it does then.........
