It's sure hard to read that kind of crap without losing my grip, but you are right- - we HAVE to understand these people- - - -for THEIR OWN GOOD! Ironic that they don't see what they would set us all up for, isn't it?

But, Goodman, after we're enslaved we'll all be so safe and healthy!

How can people be so ignorant about this subject, when the facts clearly show that more gun ownership decreases crime? I think a lot of the anti's buy into this "guns=crime" business because they desparetly want to achieve some sort of feel-good utopian society. News flash---AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN. There's assholes all over, and probably always will be. Oh well...rant's over :D .

I am a recent convert to the right and have to say that I DO understand the leftist ideas. In my case they are based in a background that had NO EXPOSRE to firearms. Most (not all) of the 'lefties' out there are in the same boat. While they claim understanding of the situation, their understanding is often based in statistics that are chosen at convenience and provided by people with an agenda. Sadly, many young collegiate people are easily swayed by skewed stats. Its pretty easy to do- young folks of high intelligence want to find an easy way to cure society of it's ills. Many of them have no exposure to guns, they see them as a scary thing and find it easy to scapegoat guns as what is wrong with society today. If history was more heavily emphasized in modern education his situation could be cured quite easily.
Don't degrade college kids- they DO want to learn. Make sure they have an alternative to the far left clowns that have made an easy career of providing idealist pap. Maybe THEN we'll see our kids understanding what strength of conviction is REALLY worth. Did you fully take that in? MAKE SURE TENURED EDUCATORS ARE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR CLASS CONTENT!

I sometimes think it may be a country/city thing more than a conservative/liberal thing. I'm a leftie country bumpkin & gun nut. My sister's a leftie city slicker & anti-gun zealot. Our everyday experience of what firearms mean (as opposed to more remote stuff like personal protection, right to rebellion, when the SHTF, etc.) is much different. To me, everyday firearms experience is recreation & hunting; to her, it's drive-by shootings.

I was just going through this site to inform myself before writing a reply, when I came across this article:
http://www.jointogether.org/gv/news/features/reader/0,2061,552411,00.html
Some gems from the well-trained little Kaliban:
Join Together: Do you think the gun lobby receives your message any differently than if it were to come from an established "gun control group"? Have you found that you wield any special power or impact with your message because of your age and situation?
Theo: Yes, definitely. The gun lobby kind of doesn't know what to do with us.
Niko: I mean, it's politically incorrect to come out and attack kids for their views. So to an extent, they have to listen.
'Politically incorrect to come out and attack kids for their views.' Someone should have told that to my leftist Environmental Science teacher. (It's a stupid class, I know. I wanted to pad my GPA) I mention I'm into guns and know the difference between an AK and an AR and he gives me a talking to and sends me to the AP. Dead serious.
Anyway, as I read this, I got more and more upset. These kids are my age, have flawed views and are getting state-wide attention and I'm debating whether I should be able to talk guns with my friends during a free period? If it were anywhere other than Kalifornia, I'd be surprised.
If anyone's interested, I'll post my reply here when I'm done.

First, it's been a long time for me - - help a brother out- - what's the AP?
Second, and I know you will anyway. . . . . don't forget to remind the good people of all the well intentioned gun laws that are simply not enforced. How can a guy with a bag of pot be treated as more dangerous than an armed criminal anyway?

Whoops - my bad. I assumed you were college (good writing sir!)
AP= Asst. Principal
The article shows the Anti's lack of ability to see the truth. Specifically where Niko mentions that the ammo ban "didn't fully pass". IT FAILED! IT DID NOT 'partially pass' !! IT FAILED!

You'll also notice that while they have a forum for discussion of substance abuse issues, they do not have forum for discussion of "gun violence" issues. They literally do not want to hear it.

If they would ever bring about a gun violence forum, I'd probably get more and more indignant and be trolling them every waking moment. I just wish I could get a day alone with these twins and my uncles guns. I'd teach 'em all about shooting and how fun bumping an SAR can be. They'd probably have a coronary though. A fifteen year old who can bump must be more of a threat than terrorism. I'm certainly more of a threat than their parents taking away their credit cards.
I'm just about done with my reply. I wanna add a strong conclusion and hammer any grammatical dings out. They love to pick at dumb little mistakes and all.
By the way, I've never really been around this section of AK-47.net, but now I'm really glad I found it.

Vacationland- Blaine Co.
The sole liberal county in all Idaho. Home to (otherwise) billionaire right wing hardliners. Upon building homes here they turn NIMBY- folks that make their money elswhere and come here to hide from the bad, bad world they helped to create.
Apology accepted. Sorry to be distracted from the thread.
