Yeah......running away from the enemy takes a lot of physical stamina. And surrendering can be tough on the arms !

As some of you may recall, I work at the Bianchi Cup National Action Pistol Championship every year. I set up in the stats shack, so I get to hang around the judges, scoring, etc. folks among whom are a lot of prior service and veterans, some of whom got their own T53s and SKSs straight from "the previous owner" so to speak.
Anyway, among this crowd, disparaging the French Soldier is frowned upon. Knock their silly governments and their panty-waisted leaders, but the French soldier is respected. As for the Foreign Legion, well that is indeed a bad-ass bunch of mercs.
Also, Americans seem to forget that without France, we might STILL be singing God Save the Queen and taking tea at 4:30.
Vive Lafayette!
Never fired, only dropped once: Still cracks ME up though!:D :D

I think I got jumped on once over at Parrallaxs for the drop once joke.
While I still find the joke funny, we do have to pay tribute to the French soldiers, it was not their unwillingness to fight, but rather a political decision made by "non-combatants" to surrender.
Just like our politicians here, not finishing what we started.

Go to my history of the FFL in the MAS 36 report. You'll see one battle group was decimated in WWII and another famous battle, around the same time as the Alamo in Mexico, Camerone, they were decimated. The FFL refuses to surrender...ever.
Jeez.........I guess we wont discuss the attack on the Greenpeace boat by the FFL will we ?

Yes please inform us, I am ignorant on this issue also
On July 10, 1985, two French Legionnaires bombed and sank the Greenpeace ship Rainbow Warrior in New Zealand. The bomb was set to explode just before midnight while the crew was sleeping.
When France's role in the attack was revealed the government was forced to pay Greenpeace millions in damages.
How Bad Ass can you be when you attack Greenpeace for Christ sake ?
( Not that I have a problem with bombing Greenpeace)
:D
And then there was this:
BRINDISI, ITALY 25 October, 1995 -- (GP) Commandos from a French destroyer armed with axes boarded the Greenpeace vessel Altair today in the Italian port of Brindisi and tear gassed her crew during a protest against the French military.
The Altair and four inflatable vessels entered the port of Brindisi to try to peacefully prevent the French destroyer Dupleix, armed with at least four Exocet Missiles, from entering the port. Greenpeace activists painted the side of the French ship with "STOP NUCLEAR TESTS!" while other activists chained themselves to the mooring ropes of the Dupleix.
Commandos aboard the Dupleix turned fire hoses on the Greenpeace inflatable boats and attempted to flood the Altair's engine room before boarding the Greenpeace vessel. Commandos lodged tear gas into the bridge forcing the captain and crew to flee before starting the ship, throwing it into reverse and abandoning it, allowing the Altair to go full speed into the dock several times.
French commandos allowed the Altair to run out of control, risking collision with other Italian police and Coast Guard vessels. One Greenpeace crew member was injured.
The Altair sustained a hole above its water line during the series of collisions. The damage is now being assessed.
"This is a grave breach of international law and is an attack not only on Greenpeace and Greenpeace crew members but on the Italian and Dutch states as well," said Greenpeace's Giuseppe Onutrio. "Clearly France is prepared to stop at nothing to test its nuclear bombs.
"France came to a friendly harbour in 1985, sank the Rainbow Warrior and killed Fernando Pereira. They stormed onboard the Rainbow Warrior in July, smashing windows and teargassing the crew. They came into international waters and seized the M/V Greenpeace and Manutea. They have beaten up and illegally detained crew members and seized our ships. But now France has come to Italy, a friendly port and attacked a Greenpeace ship in harbour, again smashing windows and teargassing the crew members."
I didnt mean to go off on a tangent about the French. I just wanted to get a rise out of Deal a Meal !:)
