Is there any decent hunting ammo for the turk mauser? I have read that the weapon was made to shoot a 155gr bullet. Most of the ammo I have seen is 170gr soft points. Will these shot alright in the rifle or will it damage it? Appreciate any replys thx.

You wont have any safety issues with a higher bullet weight but the iron sights on the Turks were regulated for the lower weight 154 gr ammo. The heaveir weights will tend to shoot high in the Turks. At 170 gr probably 6" at 100 yards.
However if your rifle is scoped for hunting, no worries, you can just adjust for the ammo.
The first and only time I hunted medium sized game without a scope I shot the back leg/haunch off an antelope at 250 meters. I went out the next day and bought the best Leupold scope I could find for my .30/06, it wasn't fun watching that poor critter try to hop away with three legs. :( I killed it on the second shot, but still, that's no way to hunt IMO.
