Just bought a used pre-ban Colt AR-15 7.62X39 caliber. Along with the rifle I got two colt magazines and a couple of USA aftermarket magazines.

When loading the chamber with the charging handle, the round chambers and the bolt locks no problem. But after firing a few rounds, the round will jam coming out of the magazine. I switched magazines between the Colt magazines and the aftermarket mags without any change in the result. In fact the colt mags jammed more frequently than the others.

Looked at the bolt and can't see any defects. Anyone have any ideas what is happening here?

What ammo are you using? According to Olyarms, their rifles maybe jamming because of the use of Lacquer coated ammo which includes Wolf.

Thanks for your reply. I have tried all kinds of ammo in the rifle in cluding wolf. Chambering the first round in the magazine with the chartgi9ng handle is no problem but the rounds to follow will not load.

The only other avenue would be the magazines itself. Heard some people discovered that the lip needed a little dremeling which solved their problems

I had an AR-15 upper in 7.62x39 & sold it.It functioned fine with steel cased ammo,I was using the USA brand Hybrid mags, looked like a cross between an AK mag & an AR mag.Beleive it or not the general concensus is that the only reliable mags out there for this platform are the USA brand mags.I personally think that these are the ONLY USA brand mags that work, probably just dumb luck on their part.I guess the old addage is true, even a broken clock is correct twice a day.

Check to make sure the carrier key isn't canted or not tightned all the way down, also the hex screws that attach it to the bolt carrier should be peened.
