I just went shooting. Planned on just shooting my CZ52 but ended up shooting my .45 also. I'd forgotten what a pain in the ass it is to clean one pistol let alone 2. So do you clean the whole thing, barrel, ejection chamber area? I've always cleaned the whole thing as I am now but I was wondering if I'm going overkill.

If I'm shooting corrosive I do a complete cleaning. If it's commercial or other noncorrosive ammunition I just clean the bore and wipe down the outside. I'll strip it down every 500rds or so for a thorough cleaning or if I don't intend to shoot it for an extended period of time.

I was burned out when I posted this. Stripped my CZ down, wife is yelling at me etc. I cleaned my barrel and went down abour 11pm last night. I was shooting commercial ammo so I just took a cleaning patch and wiped gently along the gun looking for fouling and I cleaned those areas and regreased them.

I clean the whole pistol regardless of the amount of rounds fired.

I clean them completely soon as I get back from the range. Then they're oiled & back in the safe, ready for use or storage. Myself, I just can't stand knowing they're sitting around dirty.
Stay safe.

I do a complete cleaning, it dosn't matter how many rounds I have

fired. I like clean guns, more reliable when you use them the next

time. :)

I just got back from shooting one of my old govenment model 1911s and cleaned and oiled everything in about 15 minutes. It takes me an hour to do the same with a Garand. You may think it is a pain to clean but rifles are a lot more of a pain!;)

there isn't that much to clean on those....after field stripping it, there is no need to go any further, unless you shot some corrosive ammo... then you will have to take the extractor and firing pin out.... the biggest area is the slide, barrel swabbed out, and the rest can be wiped down with a little break free and then wiped off.....I just love simplicity.

I always field stip mine down no matter how many rounds and give it a good wipe down and oil every part. Swab the barrel and put it back together. Ready for the next time......
