My neighbor mentioned this weekend that he has an Ithaca .45 he's looking to sell. What's the going price on one and what do I need to look for in terms of markings, etc.? TIA

Richard, the Ithaca Model 1911A1 was made from 1943 to 1945 in Ithaca, NY with a total of 369,129 being manufactured. The original finish was parkerized not blued and it should be marked 'ITHACA GUN CO.,INC./ITHACA, N.Y.' on the left side of the slide. An Ithaca 1911A1 should also have inspector markings of 'FJA' stamped on the receiver, 'G' stamped on the slide and 'HS' stamped on the barrel.
The serial number ranges for an Ithaca Model 1911A1 are as follows:
1943: 856405-916404, 1208674-1279673, 1441431-1471430
1944: 1743847-1890503
1945: 2075104-2134403, 2619014-2693613
Note: Pistols #1279674-#1279698 were defaced, and renumbered by the Augusta Arsenal.
The 23rd edition of the Blue Book shows $800 for 100% condition, $600 at 98% condition, $500 at 95% condition and $450 at 90% condition. Hope this helps!
