1. I ordered a 8MM Carcano from Springfield Sporster and four Carcano cleaning rods today. Very interesting history. The were rebored for the Italian soldiars serving with Rommel so they could use German ammo.
2. I will post pics when it arrives.

Mine is stamped "L Franchi" under the rear receiver tang.
Luigi Franchi was a gun engineer for Pietro Beretta, who broke off on his own to build these 8mm M38S's in a shop in Brescia, Italy, during the later part of WWII. His shop later became world renowned for the famed Franchi Shotguns.
My M38S has shot a 3.5" 5 shot group at 100 yards which absolutely floored me. I wasn't expecting that from a fixed sighted 8mm with a 17" barrel, hardly much longer than an AK-47!

No, it will be almost devoid of markings on the exterior, but the manufacturer can be seen under the receiver tang, with a magnifying glass/loupe.
This was to prevent Brescia from becoming a target of B-24's and seemed to have been a succesful move, as the Franchi factory survived the war completely intact.

Unfortunately not. I had to load mine single shot each time.
I have heard that 6.5/7.35 steel clips can be converted to fit this rifle, but I have not tried a conversion yet. I will post how to do it as soon as I get around to pulling out the ole Dremel.
