Last week, after completing the rebluing of one of my two Molinas, I took it to the range for the first time. Being less than pleased with the accuracy of the gun, I was curious how the other one would do. So today I took it out for a test drive. Talk about night and day! This is the most accurate pistol I have ever shot. At about 25', I was consistently shooting the center out of the bullseye. It ate both FMJ and Hydroshocks without a hitch. And this is through a barrel that you can barely make out the rifling in.
Now my question regards the first Molina. As I said in my last post about it, the barrel was almost smooth and the shots were all over the place. Many not even hitting the cardboard that the target was attached to. I've since replaced the barrel with a new one. Took it out today and accuracy was better, but no where near her sister. The trigger action is roughly the same as the other gun. I fired the same ammo through both. Any tips on improving the accuracy?

Did you swap out the barrel, bushing, recoil spring and guide from the second one to the first one?
Sometimes the barrel only doesn't help. Or try swapping out the barrel only from #1 to #2.
The Barrel bushing, recoil guide and springs does play a role in accuracy.

Thanks lp. I only changed the barrel. Next time out I'll swap out the other parts and see what happens.

I am going to buy a pair of these pistols. I've read that only the magazine and barrel are able to be swapped with the Colt 1911. But do you think the spring, recoil guide and bushing could be swapped with 1911 parts if they needed to be? Sarco has all these for a few dollars. If they are badly worn and accuracy was affected it would be nice to be able to swap out the parts for to make a more accurate pistol. Thanks.

I took the pistol out for another shoot yesterday and got much better results. I replaced the barrel link and link pin with new ones (Colt 1911 make) since the original pin was very sloppy and tended to wander. Accuracy was much improved. I don't know if this made the difference or not, but I know it shot alot better today.
Geojap, I think the recoil springs can be swapped out, but I don't know about the bushing and spring guide. If you e-mail this guy, alexworld2001@hotmail.com , he sells original Molina parts and can supply you with a parts list.
