Just in case some of you guys are interested, I had the chance to handle a Rock Island Armory 1911A1 today. It seemed to be a excellant piece with beautiful parkerizing. Everything seemed very tight and strong.
In case you guys aren't familiar with them, the Rock Island Armory 1911A1s are the pistols Sarco is selling for $315 wholesale. They are advertised as fully "GI" compatible as far as parts go.

FromRussiaWithLoveAK47,
I love my Rock Island. It's every bit as good as my Colt was and a lot better than the Llama I had. It is tight and solid, and shoots like a dream. I got tired of waiting on the Sistemas so I got a Rock Island. And I'm glad I did too, because they're still out of Sistemas.

Here's mine again. I have a couple of regular seven-round magazines but they sent me the eight round one with the gun. I sure like it!!

OK, guys, come on.... you KNOW you really want one. That little red devil with the pitchfork sitting right there on your shoulder, saying "Go ahead.... you NEED one more gun! Just ONE MORE gun....."
LOL You won't be sorry. I've shot some 185 JHP's in it without a flaw in feeding or extracting. You will love it!!

Been kicking myself for a year over selling my Kimber SS Classic. So, I just ordered one of these Rock Islands. Won't get to mess with it until the end of the month, I'll post up when I get to it.
Thanks for the heads up on these!

Jim,
Dealers Warehouse in Modesto has them for $315.00 and they are Kaliban approved. I don't remember, but since they are a wholesaler, I don't think they can do a transfer to you. You may have to have it shipped to your local FFL.
