Hey guys I just noticed my k-31 has a small gap (less than the thickness of a dime) between the bolt lip and back of the receiver. Here is a horrible scan of my gun. http://album.gunsnet.net/data/bustercharlie/303_p2447.jpg

I'd really like to know if this is normal or maybe I put my bolt back together wrong. My friend Skrenos says his gun has a gap, but shuetzenman says his gun is so tight he cant fit a peice of paper between it. My gun has all matching numbers

I'd like to know how many of you have a gap, and if you ever had problems with you gun.

I have 2 K31s, both shooter grade (one of them I suspect was an arsenal "range gun")

There's a little give in both of my K31's bolt assemblies when the striker is uncocked; it ranges from tight to -- lacking a ruler -- about the width of 3 "magazine subscription cards". When the striker is cocked, there is the same small gap but there is no give whatsoever.

My two rifles are recent "shooter grade" imports, as I assume yours is. Schuetzenman's K31 isn't (to say the least); it would be natural in my mind that his K31 wouldn't be as "loose" as our well-used rifles.

Regarding your bolt, I'd have to see a pic of the bolt assembly by itself, but I can say with some confidence that if you reassembled the bolt wrong, that it wouldn't function at all; you either get it right or it doesn't work period.

I've had no mechanical problems of any kind with either of my K31s.

Hope that helps. :)

That helps a lot, I have some BAD scans available here:http://album.gunsnet.net/showalbum.php?aid=303&uuid=bustercharlie

I think i'm allright then, i'll just have to check the casing for the first few shots to make sure they're not buldged or anything weird.

One of those scans was clear enough for me to say that your bolt looks alright.

You won't be saying "crappy K31" after you shoot it; the K31 is accuracy champ amongst the military BAs.

Watch your noggin' on those casings, btw. ;)

'crappy' is just talking about my worries more than the gun :) I love the gun even if I haven't shot it. it's built solid with a lot of love. Work of art
