Hi. I've seen the various types of flash-bang ammo in 7.62x39 at gunshows. I have no idea how old or what the safety or effect these rounds have on the gun and what they hit, so I've never bought any. It's rather expensive these days too. If you ever test fire any of this stuff, make sure you do it at a sandpit or something where a fire hazard wouldn't exist. Bluetip incendiary rounds I believe are white phosphorous or magnesium. Both are bad news and can't be extinguished with water. If you don't want the ammo, sell it or hand it over to your local fire department/police for disposal. Don't just throw it away, you'd hate the lawsuits from the garbage men or the city for a new truck. Bottom line is the stuff is pretty much useless unless you have a sandpit or something and shoot at late dusk to get some interesting flash-bangs. I have no idea what effect this stuff has on your rifle's barrel. Best of luck and please take care with this stuff.

Are the tips a light blue? If so I most likly made some of the bullets in your ammo. It has a magnisum compasistion in the bullet. It will work only when fired at a hard surface like solid rock or metal. Firing into wood, dirt and gravel won't work. It puts out a nice flash/shower of sparks. This is best veiwed at dusk or in the dark. It is quite impressive on a dark night fired at steel plates.
It will not harm your gun as all the comp is in the bullet nose and does not ignite untill a hard surface is struck.

Hello JA,
Yes they are light blue and you can also turn the bullets slightly in their case's.
I am trying to remember the guy's name that I bought them from up in Hayden Lake Idaho, are you from that area? Does the name Rogers sound familar to you?
Like I said earlier, these are not the kind of rounds that are found in those rip-off ads in Shotgun News. These are very well made and not meant for toying around with.
Thanks for the reply and take care, OUT

Hello TinMann99,
Thanks for the reply.
These rounds were bought at a Northern Idaho gun show. They are not the wild ammo that you see in Shotgun news. I imagine that they are homemade. The bullets are placed in the brown/black Chinese steel cases with the original Chinese primers in place.
You are right about the safety concerns regarding this ammo but I think I wiil hang on to them.
Thanks, OUT

Some of my redneck buddies (talk about a safety menace) used to shot milk jugs filled with gasoline with blue tips years ago. Scarry. Though I guess it was quite a show.

As an aside - you might want to recrimp those cartridges that you described that will allow you to turn the bullets in the case necks - this could lead to serious problems in your AK.

Namely, when you go to chamber that round, if the bullet is forced back further into the cartridge case then it was intended, all of a sudden, you've got an overpressure situation which could damage your gun. Worst case would be that the bullet drops so far down the tapered case neck that it no longer contacts the barrel forcing cone, or could drop back into the case body resulting in an 'unseated' round upon firing - this can lead to barrel obstructions and at the very least a weapon malfunction.

Just a heads-up, but recrimping and remeasuring for OAL would offer some protection.

Your ammo was made in Memphis,TN by WRAP(Wolf River Ammunition Plant). The bullets and loaded ammo was sold all over the country. I worked for my friend on weekends for bullets and ammo.
I don't know who you are referring to. Bob O. maybe? He's the only dealer I met from out west.
I met most of the dealers in the eastern US on my trips to Knob Creek machinegun shoot. Friend tried to get me to go out west to see dealers but I had to work my regular job and missed out on trip.

You will have to find it at a gun show. The sales of the blue tip was so slow because of the high price and the better proformace of the yellow tip "Starburst" round.$2-$3 a round dosen't sell to fast. If you want some I can probally russle up a few 10 round packs of tracer, blue tip,and starburst in 7.62x39mm and other calibers. Email me at J.A.FREEMAN@WORLDNET.ATT.NET if interested.
