Saw a Norinco 1911A1 for sale. Probably 50% finish, otherwise good shape. Price was $290. Is this worth jumping on. I want a 45 but dont want to spend $400+. I am cheap, you know.

I have one I bought at that same price....

I have only shot it once, and don't have any personal advise one way or another, but I bought it after reading a lot of people's advice on them.

That sounds like a good buy..

They are supposed to be pretty good as they are forged frames.

Shawn, did you ever get your's sorted out for shooting high?

A friend who is a 1911 afficiando went to China and actually saw their hammer forging techniques for frames and slides. He was impressed, and considering his knowledge, I am a believer in these Chinese guns.

Norincos, while maybe not having the best slide to frame fits, are arguably the strongest 1911's on the market.

I've got zero time to order the stuff and zero money to boot!!

It sucks that my CC got hit this month even for the M1 Garand and .22's, but I've waited so long for them that I will stomach the extra credit charge one month before I pay it off the card.....

I plan on getting a stronger spring for it...

Hmm...a copy of a firearm that defended freedom for over 80 years made in a communist country by the slave labor of political prisoners.

Now I have a headache:)

Actually we set them up for it during WWII, before Mao took over and Chang Kai Chek was fighting the Japanese. That's why these guns are made so well - they use old fashioned 1930's American technology, which is considered overkill by todays standards, if you want to believe that excuse, lol.

MacD,
I bought my Norinco 1911 back in 1994 for about $325. This is an awesome shooter. I shoot reloads out of mine and it has never failed to feed or extract and is one of the most accurate pistols I own. I have replaced the trigger, hammer, put a drop in beavertail safety, full length guide rod and stainless barrel bushing on mine. I also GunKoted the pistol and put on a new set of grips. I have done all of these mods just to dress it up, because the pistol functioned flawlessly and was pretty accurate out of the box. Good Luck. Scott
