I just got a load of norinco soft point ammo.
It is in a silver box marked boxer primed, soft point,non-corrosive lead core. Does this have a steel jacket? A magnet sticks to it. The case is marked 93 and 351.The case looks like thick copper and not a wash. Has anyone thied this ammo? How accurate is it? Any info on this batch of ammo would be helpful. Thanks Danski
p.s. Devil dog are you there? Help please!

Your ammo was made by factory 351 in 1993. It has a copper plated steel case and jacket. The copper plating on the jacket probably looks different than the case as the two are probably plated in a different way. The examples I have seen look more like a "wash" on the jacket, rather than regular electroplate. Accuracy should not be any different than any other
Chinese 7.62x39 ammunition around. Terminal performance may be a little better
than regular ball, due to the exposed lead tip, but the steel jacket will resist uniform expansion, so do not expect it to mushroom like a conventional copper jacketed soft point hunting bullet. Copper is
is the main portion of the alloy we call brass, but in it's pure form it is too soft for
manufacturing a case in of itself. That is why it is alloyed with zinc to form brass.

Thanks' Devil Dog!I knew you would find this.
The case's are a brown color and the bullet is bright copper.Do you know anything about the 7.62x 54 ammo?I just ordered some Russ. silver tip on strippers packed in 15 rd. boxes. Any good? A got a case of fmj from SOG that they advertised as non corrosive. When I tested the primer by fireing the empty shell at some bare steel it was rusty within 48 hours. Is this an accurate test? I got the test from a Nagant web sight. Thanks for the info. Danski
