I was sectioning some 5.45 cartridges for display in my collection today and made an interesting discovery. The bullet jacket on
a Russian ball cartridge headstamped
"3 96" is actually that of the standard
tracer, type M-1974, right down to the crimping cannelure and sealing disc at the base of the bullet! Why they chose to use
this design is beyond me, but it sparked a curiosity as to what the other recently imported ball ammuniiton is like.
I am hoping that some of you out there have a few cartridges to spare of some of the various types currently available in this caliber. I only need a few rounds of each type, and will gladly pay a fair price and the shipping. Please E-mail me with what you
have and we can discuss payment and shipping arrangements. I will be glad to post the results of my examinations for anyone interested. Thanks!
