I have seen some pre-ban Colts go over $1500!!!! Colt supposedly made the best AR-15s. Is $1500 reasonable to you guys?

it all depends on the condition of the weapon are all the parts Colt if they are they have a "C" stamped on them. if it is an M-4 with removable carrying handle in good condition that would be a good deal assuming it is a pre-ban.

there is no such thing as a decent price for a pre-ban colt...or for that matter post ban ones, They are all overpriced.

colt ARs are no better or no worse, then other makers....the only reason colts are so expensive is because of the name colt, and people somehow got the idea that colt made the original M16, so therefore they are the best. ...nothing could be further from the truth, ARMILITE made the original AR15, they sold the patent to colt, colt won the contract to make them for the military.

if you real are set on buying a pre-ban, look for others like armilite, bushmaster etc..
just make darn sure that the pre-ban AR you want to buy is real a pre-ban weapon, in other words...it was built as a complete weapon, with all the evil features, prior to sept 94.

if I was looking to buy a pre-ban I would first look at the most cheapest I could find....then I would call or e-mail the serial number to manufacturer, and find out when and in what configuration it left their facility ie.. as a receiver or a complete weapon.

IMHO, a pre-ban will shoot no better then a post ban one....for the price you'll pay just to have a bayo lug, and a flash supressor, or put a collapsible stock on it...you can find a very nice post ban for a whole lot less.
