View Full Version : Opinons needed, Rock Island or Auto Ord. 1911?

I am looking for a 1911/45. I do not plan to use the gun for self defense and do no want to sink the price of a Colt or Kimber in to one. On the other hand I do not want junk. Anyone have any good or bad experences with the Rock Island or the Auto Ord (the new ones, by Kahr)? I would prefer a blue finish but can life with the park. Thanks....Leon

Overland, I only have experience with the RI. It's not bad. See my post "It's here..." for a quick range report.

I have owned my Auto Ordnance M1911 .45 for about 12-15 years and like it alot. Be aware that the safety never did work from the start. After a couple of years, I sent it back for repair and they fixed for $25-30. My fault for not doing it in purchase year. Please verify the safety if you purchase one.
