I have a preban AR. On the side of the recever it is marked"Sendra Corp. Berrlington, IL" on the side of the mag well it's marked "Rock Island Armory XM15 A1" The ser is 010XX. Any idea what I have and what it might be worth? It's in about 90% good shape, I have two barrels for it, one in 5.56 the other in 6x45mm, about 8 or so 30 rd mags, two flash hiders a barrel wrench and one or two other things. The barrels are in like new shape . Thanks...:jump:

I have heard Sendra is what Bushmaster used to be called. Maybe someone else can confirm this. I suspect the Sendra name would bring a premium if quality is the same.
As far as value on a pre-ban AR, they will probably fluctuate quite a bit for the next year or so until something does or doesnt happen with the Assault weapons ban. I have noticed alot of pre-bans up for sale lately, possibly because they may be worth only half of their current value at the end of next year.
I would suspect in the condition you described the rifle alone could bring somewhere in the $900-$1500 range. If the Sendra name brings a premium it could be more. I know its a wide price range but with the possibility of the AWB sunsetting the market could change constantly over the next year. Dont know much about the 6mm stuff but I would suspect the parts would bring about the same as the 5.56 parts with maybe a slight premium.
Sorry I couldnt help more but Im sure someone else will chime in and give you more accurate info. As these are just my opinions.

Sendra has never been affiliated with Bushmaster/Quality Parts in any way.
Sendra was founded by Dick Drasen (notice the first and last syllables are just switched) ... he was a contractor for the military and supplied M-16 parts in the 60's mostly to the military "Rock Island Armory" (which is not connected in any way to the current Rock Island Armory company that produces 1911 style .45's in the Philippines)
In the 70’s Mr. Drasen started selling parts at gunshows as the military sales were declining ... he got busted and convicted of selling all the necessary parts to assemble an M16 a gunshow ... of course everyone knows the BTAF set him up, but he couldn’t prove it. Currently Mr. Drasen is out of the firearms business since he lost his 2nd amendment rights by being convicted of a felony weapons violation, however he has 3 children that have carried on the family tradition ... each has their own company:
M&A Parts
Model 1 Sales
American Sprit Arms (ASA)

Thanks for the info on Sendra, Kimberkid.
Any idea on the value of a Sendra marked gun compared to other prebans?

Ya know, I had a POS Sendra lower that I stripped for parts in the late 80's!!! I threw it away before any of the bans, not knowing I could use those serial numbers now!!! :( :(
Great info Kimberkid!!!

I really hate pricing other people's stuff without seeing it ...
... but heres my "sight un-seen, best guess"
For the rifle in 90% condition I would guess around $5-600, and only because its a pre-ban ... It's an SP-1 type receiver without the Colt name on it, and none of the reinforcing updates the newer receivers have. There has never been any collector interest in the Sendra/Rock Island and with the uncertinty of the AWB looming before us next year I doubt anyone will give "big bucks" for it now(but you never know) ... I'd sell the mags seprate from the gun or advertise them with the gun, something like "Rifle comes with 1 mag, extras avaiable at $5 each" ... or whatever price you want to put on them ... and the same with the 6x45mm uppper, give the buyer the option of which upper they want, if they want both add on around $300 if it comes with its own bolt/carrier ($250 or so if not)
I traded into a Sendra/Rock Island in 95-96 at a gunshow, kinda wish I'd kept just because it was a little different and you dont see a lot of them ... but hell, I had to sell something to fund "the next one that I had to have" :(
RJ - I know its been a long time ago ... but was it a POS just because it wasn't a Colt, or was there really something wrong with it?

Back then, lowers were not very expensive, and the Sendra had a lot of scratches and damage from the previous owner. Plus it had that standard Sendra purple color that didn't match any upper I wanted to put on it. :)
This is the PWA I built with the Sendra lower's innards. I sold it in '94 and really regret it. It was a nice groundhog gun.

I did have a nicer Sendra build, but sold it as well... :(
Sendra
No verifiable information is available but this is what people have heard. Post-ban receivers have a circle milled into the side of the magwell. They were originally bead-blasted to a non-glare finish. All others are pre-ban. Also, they used to be NESARD. Rumored to have been owned by Dick Drasen (currently M&A Parts) and produced lowers only out of Barrington, Illinois. No complete guns were sold.
