Oly AR-15 fire control group.

I have an Oly CAR type. The safety selector is properly installed, but the trigger operates anyway. The rifle would fire, if I were to load it, even with the selector on safe.

Anybody care to offer some advice?

Either the selector isn't actually installed properly, or the trigger is out of spec, or the selector is out of spec, or the trigger pin holes are not placed correctly, or the selector hole is not placed correctly.

I'd recommend you start with a thorough function check.

Turns out the trigger was broken right behind the trigger pin. I could still cycle the rifle, but the safety selector was entirely inop.

Went to a nearby gunshow this weekend. Oly Arms was there, so I showed them my trigger. They replaced it free of charge, after I have owned the weapon for over ten years. Can't complain about that.
