Hey Randy,

I've not gotten my recoil buffer yet. I ordered it last Friday and as of 9-16-02 I've not gotten it. Can you give me an update on my order? I've emailed you and didn't hear from you back. I ordered a red buffer for my SAR-1. Here's the info.

Andy, I e-mailed you back the same day I received your e-mail, don't know why you didn't get it...you order was shipped out on the 7th. I have seen orders take as long as 10-14 days and as short as 3 days, give it a few more days and get back to me if it still doesn't show up.

Hey Randy,

Thanks for getting back in touch with me. I didn't get the email. Maybe something wrong with my email. Anyway I'll keep an eye out for it this week. If I don't get it by Saturday I'll email you and let you know. I guess the postal service is running a little slow since the stamp increase. LOL.

Thanks again,
Andy Norris:)

Hey guys,

Got my buffer today from Randy at blackjack. Installation was a breeze and the piece looks like it will do a great job aganist the metal to metal recoil problems. Randy is a great guy and has great customer service. Thanks Randy for coming up with a great product!!!!!!!

Take care,
Andy:D

Dude,
Did you confirm you HAVE a metal-to-metal problem prior to installing a recoil pad?

Andy,
:D
I've owned several AKs and now a Romak 3, all of which use AK action, I even went so far as to shoot 7.62x54R 200Grain loads out of my Romak and none of them had any metal-to-metal problems... I believe you'll wear out a barrel way before you'll have to replace a receiver on any AK type action.

...Just my 2cents worth.

hkrustofski,

I have to admit that I have not seen very many AKs damaged in the way that a recoil buffer would prevent, but I have seen a couple of Romak-3s that were basically destroyed. A buffer of the type sold by Blackjack would have 100% prevented this.

Perhaps the recoil springs were not up to par in these rifles (they were not mine), or some other factor was involved, but in both cases the customers claimed to have only a moderate number of rounds through them.

In my book, a part that costs a few bucks, may make the gun more enjoyable to shoot, will extend its service life, and lasts tens of thousands of rounds is not so bad a deal.

I'll try to post a couple of pictures of a damaged Romak, though I am not sure that I have any of this part of the gun.

Hmmm...
Quite honestly I'm not sure whether the damage can be attibuted to the poor quality of the gun or the rounds fired... I know I fired close to 200 rounds, 180 of which were 200GR type with no noticeable difference with and without a recoil pad. I made my own (triangular type that mounts into the recoil spring) which was seared in half after about 100 rounds due to the way the bolt carrier travels into the but of the receiver. One thing I will admit, is that the reloading action was somewhat louder after I removed the home-made buffer, but that's all. I was amazed at how little recoil was felt even while shooting the heavy stuff. My M-39 would have torn my shoulder off!!!

If you could post the pics, I'd be greatful!

Regards,
-H
