I have recently read an article in a local shooting periodical where the writer was constructing a scout rifle from an old military k98.
Apart from fitting a sporting stock:( to a fine battle rifle, he stated that he removed the tigger assembly from the receiver by tapping out the pin holding it on, and cutting half a coil at a time from the sear spring, to lighten the second stage pull weight.
I have long been astonished at the heavy pull weight on my K98, it measures 9.0Lbs, but is reasonably clean. However, I'd like to lighten it up a tad, to say 5.5lb's, by cutting some of the coil of the sear or trigger spring.
is this possible, who has done it, is it successful?
I cant; afford a Timney adjustable trigger at this stage of my life (still a varsity student with "no" money:( )
Would sure appreciate any input.
thanks.
