You can get a practically unissued Yugo M-48 for 99.00 so why spend 200.00 for the same thing that is basically a parts gun with non-matching parts ?
OK , I know about the nazi markings and the fact that they're rich in history.
I think there's a HUGE stockpile of these that will be coming in the near future.
I for one am NOT going to get caught up in all the HYPE:D

Because I already have two M48's and I don't have any Nazi marked K98's. They're something new, they're German, they're WW2 Mausers.
I also love the K98 laminate stocks.
Post a pic when you get yours for $100 after the hype.

Yeah that one was only $89. Then the pitiful replacement Century sent me after 3 months of waiting had a frikin M98 straight bolt on it, all markings ground off except for one pitiful eagle on a barrel band. Excellent bore though and nice laminate stock! I wound up paying $50 for a new (brand new) turndown bolt from Sarco. So even that one cost me $150 in the end.
Thanks for reminding me about that NEILWEST YOURE A REAL FRIEND!!!! OR IS THAT FIEND????

and BB the difference between the K98 and the M-48 is like saying a pinto and a mustang are the same because they are made by Ford. Way different guns based on the same design.

But. Are the Nazi markings going to be intact?
Alot(not all) of weapons captured by the Russian have had the markings either partially removed or totally removed.
So how about these?
REDSTAR

AIM says they are all intact in their ad. I was wondering that too becuase I saw one at a store and it didn't have any Nazi marks at all just German arsenal codes.

AIM's ad:
Just Arrived! Original German K98 Mausers with all the Original markings intact! Do not miss your chance, these have not been seen in awhile, and will be gone soon. These Rifles are Russian captures (Dip blue & Renumbered match) in Very-good+ condition. All bores are a Bright and shiny! Do NOT include cleaning rods, front sight hoods, or "guard-screw". Again ALL the Original German markings intact!

When I talked to Eric and ordered he as well said they were there, nice eagles and such, being the fact it does have markings it has collectors value, mainly because there is no standard value system on Nazi memorbilla
Who-
what are you using to whiten your markings? crayon?
whos2kno

on this one I used white out. but you can use a white crayon.
when you use white out just glob it on and let it dry. then put some gun solvent on a rag and wipe off lightly. the white out stays in the pitted or marked areas. and when you don't want it anymore use the same rag and just rub harder and it come off.

Jimmyjoebob , actually I hope you're saying the M48 is the Mustang and the K98 is the Pinto !:D The M48 has a stronger , beefier action than the K98.
I would jump all over the Aim K98 deal , but I'm just not that impressed by the K98 and don't want to take the chance of getting some re-arsenaled beater with a shot out bore:eek:

What da hail are you talkin about boy! The M48 action is not any beefier than a K98k action. IT is shorter by about 3/16 inches in length however.
M48 stocks seem to be thicker than most K98's I've handled in the past. However after looking at over 100 of them last Friday I saw just as big and chunky wide and thick K98 stocks as the M48's.
On your attitude about getting one . . . . this comes to mind. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! In 1 year your M48 will probably be worth what you paid for it. In 1 year these rifles will be worth $350 on the collectors market.
Pay the handpick fee, define you want a strong bore and best possible condition stock and don't specify the maker code and you'll get a VG+ to low level Excellent rifle in all probablity. That's what I saw there. Every rifle I saw had 100% bluing. Now some maybe a half dozen, showed very minor pitting on the exterior surface of the receiver ring that had been blued over. Most were not.

Blackbore,
For me, its a rifle with no historical signifigance {the M48} and and one of the most famous rifles of all time.
I have an unissued M48, its "nice" but does nothing for me, but with the K98 you can feel the history. It's like my Garand, a genuine relic.
You really ought to get one. AIM has jacked up the price 15 dollars already (except for us) and my spy's tell me that the price is going to keep getting higher (not lower) on these...

I did the math on these
right now they are
$209.95 + $12.00 shipping that come to a total of $221.95
we pay $199.95
total savings of
$22.00
with that I might sell something and maybe get another. I have to see and maybe I might just do that.

I could not get the pic either and I am logged in. Why?
As for the SS mark, that is cool. Tonight I went through all of the websites listed for C&R's on this site. One near the bottom of the list, sorry I can't remember the name, had an all original SS helmet brought back by a GI. It had the GI's name and where he got the helmet written inside the interior webbing. They wanted either $2400 or $2600 for that helmet!
However, if someone has the bucks and is a major collection, it might be worth it.
I will go back and see if I can find the website.
Rage
It was warpath militaria and he wanted $2400 for it. Even if no one can afford it, I suggest you take a look because it is in excellent condition, and thus it is very cool.
