I put one on a Bushmaster bullpup, and have had no problems with it. The dot is a little large for target work, but I have save self and loved ones from attacks by renegade quart plastic oil cans at 100 yds quite easily. I find it very fast, also. I would have trouble spending $200 - $300 on another red dot when I got this one for about $50 shipped.

I'm glad you asked about those red dots OBI-1, and thanks for commenting Packrat. Glad to see you risking your life for your family's safety.

I saw these sights on sale at Midway's web site this morning and was thinking about getting one for my flattop AR that is coming in.

Taken from their web site:

Another comment: you can use the battery from your PC if the one in the BSA dies -- they both use the 2032 battery (so as long as you are in an area where PC are common, you won't have problems finding a battery).

If anyone finds a way to put a simple switch on this sight, let me know. I want to mount a microswitch (from a dead PC mouse) so pulling the trigger turns on the dot.

Ive been concerned that these Red-Dots are made for a .22 and would not be able to take the recoil of an AR or an AK.

Also, what mount does it come with? How did you put it on your AK?

I can't speak from experience, yet, but I have read several posts on AR15.com about these red dots, it seems that they work pretty good on the AR series. It also appears that BSA really does stand behind their product, they replaced some items for a couple of people over there.

I just ordered one for my new Bushy flattop, I just couldn't pass up that price, even if it's junk I'm only out $30(their prices always include shipping, so that's $29.99 shipped!!). I have a scope that I'm maily going to use, but I thought it would be nice to mount this red dot on the detachable carry handle for plinking around purposes.

BTW, I'm pretty sure ACE LTD. is selling some kind of scount mount for the AK.

I don't know if they would stand up to an AK, but I haven't had any trouble with the bullpup. They have a mount that will fit the Weaver rail. You would have to put a rail on the AK. However, since they have no magnification, they aren't particular about eye relief, so you can mount them anywhere, including out on the barrel as a Scout sight. The best choice would be a mount that would fit over the existing sight base, I think. Someone made one of these and posted the info on it not too long ago.

$30? How could you pass that up? I'll order one of these tonight! I just bought a millet scout mount from Natchez Shooter's Supply that replaces the rear sight leaf. If you brace your rifle butt against something solid and with the leaf vertical push down and back, the leaf comes out pretty easily. Then the scope mount goes in it's place.

My BSA red dot just came in today. The unit seems very well built, and the dot is very bright on the brightest level, #11. The 30mm objective is probably a tiny bit too small, but it should do fine for target practice. If I get my Bushmaster put together before the weekend I'll go out Sunday and test the red dot and rifle out.

I'm not positive, but I think this sale that was discussed is over, I think.

I got my 30MM BSA red dot from Cheaper Than Dirt. I am NOT happy with it at all. I mounted it on my ROMAK2, using KVAR's new low mount. The site DOES NOT have enough elevation adjustment in it for the 5.45x39 and the adjustments are OPPOSITE of what is indicated on the dials. So....back it goes. It was a 'test' anyway. Now, how to explain a Trijicon REFLEX to my wife.......?

My two cents-- I've got a BSA spotting scope, and it's very cheaply made, but I only paid $25 for it. I've got a Tasco ProPoint on my SA85 that I can highly recommend. It ran about $75 from J&G last year, and I've seen them cheaper since.

what model propoint did you go with? I do have the $36 BSA 30mm on order from midway for an intended scout mounting on my ShortyBushy A2. I guess we shall see.
