I've got a MAK-90 that eats up any ammunition and is rugged as hell. I bought a 75-round Norinco drum for it, and fired off all 75 without flaw (the ammo was FMJ, Tula).
The next time I took it out, I loaded it with Wolf hollow points. Every 4th or 5th shot stove-piped.
Anyone else experience this?
Thanks

some AK's don't like hollow points. They cause feeding problems.

Check your gas port. (You should have a tool that looks like an Allen wrench. It has grooves cut in the long end. Stick this down into the gas port [not far enough to scratch the bore on the other side] and turn it a couple of turns. If nothing drags or catches, you're OK)

Check your tension on the drum. You need to have as much tension on the LAST round as you do on the last round in a 30 rnd mag. This will take several turns on the key.

Check your extractor. It should flex freely. Also check the ejector to see that it isn't broken. It should stick straight out or curve a little forward. If it curves back near the end, it isn't ejecting early enough. Your cases should have a distinct scratch, possibly a dent on the case where it hits the receiver cover. Sounds like yours aren't hitting hard enough. If this doesn't help, e-mail me for other suggestions.

Thanks for the response...
Next time I use it I'll check.
7.62 x 39 hollow points kinda suck anyway. There's nothing like FMJ to punch through steel.
