1. In case you were wondering, I used a steelbrush attachement on the bolt assembly and then used clear bakeon paint from Brownells and the HotBlue system I bought from Brownells for the metal parts. It was my first attempt to use it and it came out damn good IMO. I buffed the metal down with the grinder attachement polishing it then dropped it in the tank. Voila.

wow! I'm glad to hear you started with the tanks. That is superb.
I really like how you polish the wood on these babies too, that orange color is fantastic. When you get caught up I may have to ask you to do one of mine like that sometime. Very nice.
what do you mean by clear bake on paint?? Give me some more info on what you did.

Wow!! Professional job.
I'm guessing on the color, he got the cosmoline out and used tung oil. Has that Mauser bleached look where they turn orangish
I think he's using the same finish Salbo uses on the .45s he's refinished. It's a bake on finish. Damn that is a complete turnaround for that gun Neil

Neil,
That is truly a beautiful professional job. It doesn't even look like the same gun. Are you sure you're not Italian?? LOL

1. The clear I was refering to on the bolt is from Brownells. It is the same bake on laquer as the Matte Black and Gloss Black we've been using. It is called Matte Clear and it is applied the same way. I ordered it by mistake and thought I would try it on this bolt and the buttplate. It came out as hard as a rock, wont scratch and protects the buffed metal from the air.
