I am curioous to know when the Russians started to retro fit optic plates on their RPKs and when they started mounting them on new RPK machine guns.

from what iv read in my books and the photos it started in 1973/75 then the first rpk74.s in 74/75 got them and thay started retro fitting some guns for export sales...then in 1986/87 it was on all of them thats what it looks like:)
