Does anyone have strong feelings either for or against one of these? I am getting a scope for my post ban Romanian and I really hate the present stock. Well thanks.

i had a choate on a maadi, it was great. very comfortable. my pal had a fiberforce that was usable, but is just didn't fit me the right way. maybe i didn't have enough time with the fiberforce. the choate has the option of adding spacers also, so you can adjust the stock length...

fiberforce SUCKS!!!!! Choate RULES!!!!!!
Strong enough?
The pistol grip of the fiberforce is to small for anyone's hands except for 10 year olds. The distance between where the bottom part of the thumbhole conects to the pistol grip and the top of the pistol grip is very small. So you can't wrap your hand around the pistol grip like you can on the Choate.

I will add another vote for the Choate stock set, but I will add my two cents here also. Toss out the Choate handguards. Without a lower heatshield they will get hot and soft with alot of shooting. I have a Bulgarian handguard set and it works and looks great!

Kitdog, I know what you mean, but I was able to take my time and drill from both sides torwards the middle to accomplish the task. I had to grind away a groove in the middle also, but it worked and is very tight, almost too tight. I could loosen it if I wanted, but I don't really ever take the cleaning rod out anyway, it's just for looks on mine http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/smile.gif

I have heard of some of the Choate handguards melting under lots of shooting, but I personally have never had that problem, although I usually don't shoot rapid fire through 6 mags as fast as I can, that probably has a lot to do with it. Under normal fire and a quick mag her and there I think there fine, this just my opinion though.

I have no experience with the Choate stocks, but I have an ATI Fiberforce on my SKS, and LAGC has one on his MAK, so I feel safe in commenting on them.

Many people complain that the ATI stocks have tiny pistol grips, and that only ten-year olds can grip them. Well, I must be ten years old, cause they fit my hands pretty good, which leads me to believe the Choate grip would probably feel uncomforably large/thick in my hand.

The Choate stock does not come equipped with a cheek rest, you have to pay seperately for it. As for the ATI stocks, the MAK stock has a cheek rest molded into it, and the SKS comes with one that I guess is "removable", and hollow so that it can hold the cleaning kit (though it rattles around horribly) or other stuff. I guess the cheek rest is supposed to be intended for use with a scope, but on the MAK it is just high enough that it works really well with the iron sites, at least for me. The SKS cheek rest is a bit high for that purpose for my tastes, but works well enough. And further, for some reason those Dragunov stocks look kind of cheesy to me without the cheek rest present. I guess I'm just weird.

I've used Choate and ATI stocks. The Choates cost more but alweays were a better fit on a Mini14 and SKS. I sold the ATI stocks and bought Choates from Brownells.

Yup they do, they even have online ordering. I ordered the Cheek rest online from them, much easier to use the scope now.

P.S. The Choate stock includes a removable butpad spacer so you can adjust the length of pull somewhat.
