View Full Version : Mag Pouch Belts?

I have my AK Mag Pouches but I have been unable to find a belt that is thin enough to go through the loops on the pouches and also have the holes in the belt for my web gear. Any ideas where to get such a belt? My GI pistol belt is NOT hacking it.

Wish I could get alice clips to work with the pouches.

try useing an exacto/razor knife and put slits in the mag pouch belt loops to install the alice clips.
second option, I have some NATO issue AK mag pouches that look just like M-16 30 round mag pouches. The only drawback is the mags are had to get out unless they are "upside down", meaning, the open end of the mag is up.

Most of the European AK pouches have loops made for 2" leather belts. I picked up a French web belt at a surplus place and found that the Euro AK pouches will work on it. It takes a little work to get the buckel through but then it works fine. Another option would be to get the late model East German AK-74 pouch with the green webbing rather than the older gray. It has larger belt loops that work on the USGI pistol belt.

Sparkky: Take some 550 cord, take out the inner strings, and cut the cord about 4-5". Tie knots in the ends and melt them with a lighter. Slide the followers out far enough to push the knots into the mag body. Snap the followers back, making sure the detent snaps back. You now have loops to pull on when removing a mag, sort of a cheap "Mag-Pull". I have done this to the mags in my canteen covers AND Chi-Com chest pouch, and it works great!

It's really simple,just follow steering and flow with it. You see, Ironhand's my thing!

heres a fix for those EG mag pouchs -- they will work on the USGI belts

take some 2-3 inch webbing, and sew it into a loop, slide the webbing through the pouch loops, the webbing should be just long enough that it sticks out about a 1/4 inch on the other side of both pouch loops -- the 1/4 area install a alice clip and maybe 1 or 2 more to the webbing between the pouch loops, and attach it to the belt

in theory this should work
or you can take off the buckles from the belt and slide the belt through the pouch loops -- it will fit, just tight and then put the buckles back on

n=O===n====O=n

n is alice clip
O is pouch loops
= is webbing ---- hopefully this makes sense and works
