Anyone know how good the steel is in Russian Bayos?

I was playing with my Russian bayonet and chopping bicycle spokes with it, when I wondered how good of a field knife it would make. Anyone know what type and quality of steel is in the blades? It's such a handy design, and it hangs securely upside-down from my left web strap! I need more of these fine tools.
