1. for those of you that might have been following the Turk Project A to Z this is the completed product. The hardware was pitted as was the bolt. I dremeled them down to bare metal then but the barrel and receiver in the hotblue tank. the bolt and buttplate I cured with Brownells Matte Clear Lacquer.

2. My last step will be to use jewlers rouge to knock down the shine a bit and get a deep lustre desired.

1. Four coats of Behrs Scandinavian Tung Oil with a 0000 steelwool buff between each coat. See the A to Z post on the Restoration section.

Neil,

You missed your calling in the gun business. Nobody can build a brand new gun as pretty as yours are. We're lucky to have you here to share your knowledge with us!!

As usual very nice. I'd suggest nocking down the gloss a bit, it'd look more "military" issue that way.

Have you ever tried powdered pumice, called Rotten Stone? Mix it with BLO to make a slury and put it on a cloth or felt pad. Rub in small circles using gentle pressure. You can rub through finish quickly so not too hard and not too long in one place.:bye:

1. Schutzenman is right. Ive learned however that I must wait a couple of days with this tung oil to make sure it is dry and hard or it tends to ball up and flake off when I rub it. I will post my final pics when completed. :bye:
