Hello all, picked one of the Arsenal RPK's up Friday from a FFL friend. He had ordered 3 back awhile agao and I drolled on his personal one. I have always liked the looks of the RPK, and this serial number is 13! My lucky number.

Now to some questions.

1. Does anyone know if the Bulgarians really used a milled receiver on their RPK?
2. Was the beautiful blonde wood the correct stoc, pg, and hg's? If not, what was?
3. The Arsenal RPK does not have the cleaning rod guide or rod like the Soviet model, is it supposed too?
4. And lastly, where can I find reading material on the Bulgarian AK weapons?

Thanks in advance with any help!

Doesn't the Arsenal RPK have it's cleaning rod stashed in one of the bipod legs?

I will have to check. From looking at the bi pod I think that I ahve a Russian because of some of the stamps/markings. Will have to check that out! Thanks

I'm sure I've seen a photo of one that must have had a 3 (?) piece rod in one of the legs. Don't know about reading material regarding Bulgarian weapons but K-var has a video from the Bulgarian Arsenal for sale--think it's less than $15.

Yep the cleaning rod is on the inside of the bipod legs! I know there is a web site for the Bulgarian AK's just need to locate it. :D

Guess us guys w/o the cleaning rods got lucky and have Russian bi pods. I have found out the Russsian bi pods are longer than the Bulgarian. Guess that is a good deal, but I would still like an original Bulgie bi pod too...

You weren't the only one. My Vietnamese TUL-1 had a milled receiver, with the standard AK buttstock rather than the usual AK *clubfoot* butt, as preferred by the Vietnamese for their shorter-sized troops. Unfortunately, mine was missing the original bipod, but shoots just fine without it.

popski,
Is your Tul-1 a bringback trophy?? Could you just give us some more info on it? I've only seen one pic of one in a book and have never read much about them

thanks
