Guys, I got my 2 turks from j&g sales and they look good. The finish is well worn but no cracks that i can find yet. Now I bought them to refinish so these are great candidates. When I started to disassemble one I ran into a problem with the band around the top of the barrel, the one the cleaning rod goes into. I have no idea how to get this off. Any help would be appreciated. I was going to post this in the restoration board but thought I would get more replies here.
Thanks
Ar-Eric

The pin needed to be replaced i strongly suspect it was a nail,..so i replaced it with a cast
iron nail and cut the end off about 2-10 ths of an inch longer and flattend the end and ..It looks fine !

I took my Turks bolt apart on accident. I got it back together but it scared me for a minute..

There are quite a few models of turk out there, on my 1903/38 the cap you're talking about, where the rod fits into, is held by a flat spring, just like the mid band, except this one's located on the bottom of the stock, it's wider, and boy is it tougher. I had to use a mini c-clamp to get it done. Good luck!
