If you can find an area where you can shoot safely without having to be careful which way you're pointing, try this. Find some photos of your favorite people. You need to be able to blow the heads up to life size or slightly smaller. Print these out (B&W) and take them to your favorite copy store to have copies made. The paper is a little flimsy, so get some paper plates to back them, and get some stakes to support the.

Take these and put them in place so they're partially hidden, as if they were defending the area. Then (working as a coach) direct another shooter into the area. He has to spot, identify, and shoot within a reasonable time (5 seconds?). Then let him place the "bad guys", and direct you into the area. The good part is that you can go over the same area several times, with "bad guys" placed in different locations each time. It's not as good as a "fun house", but it's something that you can do cheaply.

No, I honestly came up with this on my own, I think. At least I don't remember stealing it from anyone. And I have never seen the video. It came more from the "Hell Town" or "Hogan's Alley" training facilities, and also from the Trainfire method I was taught in Army Basic.

I keep trying to come up with ways to get a little more realism and excitement in shooting practice. With the right photos, this could be really great.
