Took the MAK-90 out this weekend to a deserted gully this weekend and learned a few things:
1) The holes I drilled along the back of my mags to mark 10, 15, 20, & 25 rounds (there's already a hole for 30) worked great. It was nice being able to tell when I had half a clip left without having to count rounds (see #3 below). If anyone's interested, I can post the measurements for drilling the holes.
2) Brought a 1/4" steel plate with me. 9mm will stratch it, .45 will dent it, 7.62x39mm will blow the sh!t out of it! Interestingly, lead core HP will blow right through the plate, but experience extreme fragmentation. I was proping the plate up with cardboard boxes that were untouched when I began and shredded when I was finished. There were so many shrapnel holes, it looked like a shot the boxes with a shotgun.
3) Tried out the "Bump" method of going (almost) full auto. Damn, that was fun! Ripped off a couple of 12-15 round bursts into a brush pile, wood was flying everywhere. I did experience a couple of jams when doing this. Has anyone else had this problem? I was using a Hungarian mag with Russian HP. Mag was seated properly, but was the first time I'd used this particular mag. Has anyone ever had problems with the Hungarian Mags?
Despite that last problem, I had a helluva good time.
