Well, it finally got here! I've been waiting for my Enfield custom scout rifle for a LONG time.

To refresh your memory I took a #5 Mk1 Jungle Carbine that had already been sporterized as a basis for the project. The barrel was trashed so I replaced it with the only barrel I could find at the time, a surplus 2 groove from Springfield Sporters. I sent the rifle to Ashley Outdoors where their gunsmith, Bo Wallace, put together the pieces. I retained the stock rear sight because I really like it. Bo cut the barrel down to size put it into the action and mounted one of their scout scope rails on the barrel. He also installed one of their front sights. I already had a Ram Line synthetic stock on the rifle. I mounted a Leupold scout scope, a Galco Ching sling (3 point speed sling) and a Galco butt cuff to hold 5 extra cartridges. Bo does excellant work and I would recommend him and Ashley's products to anyone.

This thing is slick! The bolt throw is short, smooth and fast. I can reload singely, with 5 round stripper clips or just pop in an extra 10 round mag. Once you get used to the scope set up target aquisition is very fast. Targeting groundhogs at 300 yds is no problem. (missed one at 200 due to a ranging error on my part) Acceptable accuracy so far. Surplus Greek ammo (174gr Mk7 ball, HXP 85) is hovering around 1moa. I'm going to try some handloads and some match ammo next. I think this wil be a tremendous all purpose rifle and I can't wait to start nailing some hogs and some deer with it. I'll post more as I get it if anyone is interested. Sorry, but I can't post pictures.

I wish I could but I don't have a real computer. Webtv is ok but it does have it's limitations. I gotta get a real computer but I keep spending all my money on guns, mags and ammo!

I'm gonna snail mail a regular picture to a friend with one of those photopoint accounts. That will be a few weeks but I'll let you know when it's up!
