About your only option is to do it on private property away from prying eyes. You can do some of it under the guise of "hunting". If you aren't carrying a firearm, you can go into the Wildlife areas (with a permit) and claim you are scouting for hunting when the season opens (at least in Florida). This also offers a chance to practice map reading techniques. You and a few "hunting buddies" can do this, especially in "unpleasant" weather when there aren't many legitimate hunters around.

BLM lands in WY. You can shoot for days and no one will hear it unless they're directly downwind and close by--not a good chance.

BIGWINR69. I saw your post over on AR15.com. I also noticed that you are from Florida. How about taking a boat out into the swamps? I've been down to the everglades a couple of times and was always struck with how you could just disappear in a small unpowered boat. I really liked it. There are dangers I'm sure, and who knows what the boundries are but it would be worth looking into on a couple topo maps. If you are in the north part of the state, maybe you could go up to the Okefenoke swamp, or Apalachicola. You don't really need a lot of space to spend a day working on your field craft, in your BDU's etc. Good luck!

Oh yeah, one more thing, living in Florida, even inland, I would think that working on your small watercraft skills and boat handling, swimming, knots, navigation, (coastal and inland) would be a worthwhile pursuit. With so much water in the state, and on both sides, it would be a smart "bugout" option to know this stuff. You could do that stuff in civies-completely unnoticed.

The maine thing is having a plan, and having friends in many states. Decide when you will fight and when you will not. Have a code that only you and your family know about, and close friends. Also practice actually using your'e gear, don't let the first day you wear all that shit be the last day. Lastly for me at least- go to the range in full gear mode, with several others who look the same and be serious but very polite. Have the look of don't fuck with us but have the manners of a gentleman- it's one thing to look like a stereo typical militia member, but it's another to not act like one.

in kalif the i think they made it or going to make it a FELONY to assemble and practice as some sort of militia or anti govt movement
sounds like BS to me

so dont get together with a bunch of friends and go out into the mtns while wearing camo and shoot those evil guns

WETSU, there are a lot of good places in Florida. And while there is a fair amount of water, it's not all swamp. There are some fine pine forests, some oak / wire grass areas, and even a few climax forests. If you ever get a chance to come down, let us know and we'll get together for a shoot if we can. We're pretty much on a schedule for shoots now.

LAGunman2k, they legally can not pass a law like that, simply because you have the right for peaceful assembly, the right to organize a citizen militia, the right to keep and bear arms and the right for freedom of speach. I would gear up and get to the range- make a statement, remind them that the patriot is not dead.

well Bryant, you are right about that, But this is F**King kalif so anything against the consitution is Legal

i had just heard about this law, so i dont know the specifics on it, but i guess its already a law, since i heard that it is now a misdeamenor and they want to make it a felony
it is a load of BS

funny how there isnt any real threat of any militia taking over in this state, or any real militia that ive heard of or any activity of that sort --but they already have a law for this
i guess they have BIG BS plans instore for us, and want to stop the subjects of this state from becoming citizens again, so stop us while we train so we will be unorganized --makes for a nice take over huh ??

ooh and by the way Bryant --WELCOME to the 1000 post club

Packrat, thanks for the invite. Florida, like all Southern states sure does have a beautiful variety of outdoors "training' areas. I was drawn to the swamps simply because they can be so damn inhospitable to most folks' minds. That would make them a good training area since most people wouldn't want to venture that far back. From a survivalist or resistor type of perspective I consider the worst kind of God-awful smelly, insect infested, gator-crawling, rotting swamp to work to my advantage. I would train to operate from there. Look at the Rung Sat special zone in S. Vietnam. Until the SEALs showed up the VC ruled that area for the same reasons.

Gotta go into the national forest land. You can blast all day in those areas, just pick up your shredded targets and as many shells as you can find. I am sure there will be some in meso to northern FLA in the interior forests. FL is a heavily populated state, so it be challenging to find a place close by, unless you already live out in the 'sticks!!!'.

The only problem I have in the national forests in my homestate is that they are dotted with protected 'wilderness areas.' No guns are even allowed in these areas, except for protection from animals. Thus, blasting away will send the closest ranger in your area towards you.

I don;t mind the restrictions in these areas, as I am glad to see them protected from human encroachment.....so just stay in the NF areas. There also might be some state forests as well.

We do most of our training on BLM land. Haven't had a problem yet.

Just as Bryant said, have the look to command respect, but don't come off as a hillbilly jerk. We have numerous members together in public areas, shooting or not, and we are instructed to keep ourselves becoming an American Citizen/Patriot. We've had the police encircle us while shooting, but in the end they were very cordial, because the same was extended to them. People's reactions are usually a response of the way they were treated.

Hold your head high. Never be ashamed.

From what I've been told wearing a "uniform" while in possession of a weapon w/ live ammo is a crime in Kalifornia. I am involved in a living history group (reenacting WWII) in Az. We had a large group come from Kali. After a day of "reenacting" we had a live fire. The california guys just about had a coronary, they explained the law in Kalifornia, I said that this is Az, not the P.R.C. It made no difference the ALL left at first light. It appears that Kalifornia is occupied territiory. To all my brothers and sisters behind enemy lines good luck, keep your powder dry. The enemy is here as well.

i did recently hear about a anti-militia type law here in the PRK, dont know the specifics, whether or not you can wear camo and shoot guns at the same time -- sounds weird to me
i thought it had to do more with training to overthrow the govt
i wish i had a link to the law, should make interesting reading
seems like they could arrest a buttload of people for going shooting in the desert while wearing camo

National Forest or Bureau of Land Management areas work well. Just act responsibly, i.e., no campfires in prohibited areas, pack your trash out, don't tear up the plants and trees, etc. Don't give them an excuse to further regulate us. IMO, the farther you get away from your motor vehicle once you park it the better off you and your friends will be.

I questioned some hunters about shooting in the NF and ws told that even carrying a gun there except during hunting seasons would get you in big trouble -- confiscation being the first and least of it. Haven't looked into the laws. It would be a good idea to carry a copy of the laws saying you can carry and shoot if you go into these areas.
