Those in the know, please advise:
I am thinking about ordering a RPK barrel assembly from IO to retro fit my Saiga .308. Question is, would it work? I'd like to remove the original front sight and gas block and replace with RPK lower handguard retainer, RPK gas block, RPK cleaning rod guide and RPK front sight. The goal is to be able to use standard RPK handguards and gas tube, as well as install a cleaning rod. I figure I'll probably trim the barrel at 20" and utilize a standard SKS cleaning rod. Encouraged from another thread, I'm fabbing up a new pistol grip and PKM style buttstock from laminated birch plywood to complete the project. I know it's a franken-gun project and not a true replica, but will the parts fit? Which ones?
