I'm trying to find out what the "dealer cost" would be for a Bushmaster XM15 E2S with the 20" barrel. I can get one for 20 bucks over that price. Since I'm already asking one question, I got another one to ask. What exactly is the difference between a Pre/post ban lower receiver? I know all about the upper recveivers, but I'm not sure what the difference is on a lower. Can somebody help me out?

Thanks.....

From what I have read/heard:

With a pre-ban lower your rifle can have all the "eveil features" you want.

With a post ban lower your rifle must be in post ban configuration.

Hope that helps.

The two differences between pre and post ban receivers is price and serial number.
If offered what the seller is saying is pre ban receiver be very wary, their are sites where you can check the serial number to see if it was manufactured before the 94 ban was put into effect.
A true pre-ban receiver will run you $850 plus, post bans are anywhere between below $100 to $300 depending on manufacturer.
There is no functional difference between either receiver, that in mind I would not venture to put pre-ban upper on a post ban lower, it's not worth the risk or anxiety you will go through if you do it.

Thanks for all the info. I wouldn't even think about doing anything illegal anyway. And besides, I'm currently in the final steps of a hiring process with a Federal law enforcement agency.... it wouldn't look good to be caught with illegal weapons to say the least.......
