View Full Version : Ljungman
Getting very interested in purchasing a Ljungman. What are the pros and cons of this rifle? What should I expect to pay for a Ljungman in very good to excellent shooter condition?

Expect to pay $425 to $475. It is what it is, the first direct gas impingment rifle, gas from the round fired blows into a spigot on the bolt carrier and that unlocks and forces the bolt group back.
I suppose the biggest negative the rifle has is it's chambered in 6.5X55 ammo and there's no cheap surplus and hardly any expensive surplus for it. So handloading is a must if you plan to shoot more than one box a year in it. :D
IMO this round is the most underestimated accurate round going. It has excellent penetration as well. I often wish the US had adopted this as the round for the M1 Garand.

Yes good 3-400 yard deer rifle. Having a custom built in this caliber. 2 years ago one of the large companies (I think mid south)was seling all their 6.5x55 brass real cheap, I bought about 600 rounds of Norma brass real cheap.

With 5 rifles in this caliber I've got about 800 rounds of loadable brass to play with. And one sealed battle pack of Swedish Ball ammo.
