Hello all,

This is my first post here and I'm a newbie to AR's, so I have a question or two...

I have wanted an AR for some time but have not gotten serious about learning about them or looking for one. Just yesterday the opportunity to pick one up fell into my lap...

A friend is looking to sell his pre-ban Bushmaster CAR-15. He said he would give me a good deal - problem is I don't know what a good deal is! I saw the gun and it is in perfect condition, not a scratch on the thing. He is throwing in some extras on the deal as well.

Can anyone give me an idea of what this model is worth??? Is this a good choice for a first AR? Anything I should look for or be concerned about?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

Rick

Welcome to the group, first time poster RGF!!!!!!!

While I can't tell you the value of a pre-ban Bushmaster, a Bushy would be a great choice for your first AR. Very reliable, parts are mil-spec. and parts are easy to come by. With new, post-ban Bushmasters going for between $700 and $1000, a pre would normally be much more. If you get much higher, you are going into Colt territory. Hopefully someone here can give both of us an idea on the value of a pre-ban Bushy, but if it is too much, the post ban ones can be found everywhere. Aim Surplus has the XM15 E2S 20" H-BAR for $699. It also would depend on what he throws in, USGI mags in good condition (the only ones to use) run around $15 each.

Good luck and keep us informed.
