Here's two teasing pics of my Christmas present, a 1906 Gustaf Swedish Mauser 96. It has one of the most beautiful elm stocks I have ever seen on a military rifle. The first picture is kinda dark as the flash didn't work on the camera. The second is more representative. This weekend I'll post some more.

I already responded to this thread in the Mauser section. IMO it's a really nice looking Ash stock. Ash has a grain stucture similar to Oak. I have a 96/38 short rifle that has an Ash stock as well but it doesn't have those really beautiful dark contrast lines between the growth rings.:cool:

That is some beautiful grain on that stock! Looks like a definate keeper to me.:)
I can top that, I just picked up a 1943 Huskie M38 w/bent bolt for $200. 95% condition.
Will post pics when she arrives.

The stock on my Swede 96 is simply boring in comparison. All yellow with hardly a hint of character. I still like it though.:)
