OK, I understand that when you have a Class 3 weapon that you need to carry a copy of your Tax Stamp with the gun just in case you are asked to prove that you can legally own it. But what does a Class 2 manufacturer need to carry with him? I understand that they do not need to get a Class 3 stamp for every weapon they have manufactured. So do they carry a copy of their Class 2/SOT license? Do they carry a copy of the LEO letter that shows the models that are being "demoed" for them?

Greywolf, when you have a class III item you don't have to carry the paperwork with you-it's just a good idea.
A classII should carry a copy of his FFL and SOT(classII)stamp with him.
Every weapon that they have should have paperwork with it(although the ATF gives them 24hrs to send in the paperwork once the item has been made).
I've known a ClassII and a ClassIII(dealer)and they both,at one time or another, have had the local yokels get REAL excited over(they thought) catching someone with "illegal machineguns". After showing all the proper paperwork, that "I'm gonna make the bust o' my life" look goes out of their eyes and is quickly replaced with that "come on please let me shoot your toys" look.
In both cases after the initial encounter, they weren't bothered again.
It usually a good idea to get to know the local law enforcement. It helps your sales, gets you free time on their range(where you can cut loose and not have to worry about noise complaints),and gets extra attention paid to your property-AKA-"maybe I'll swing past Mr.ClassII's to make sure no one's breakin' in"
It also helps when you are trying to get a Letterhead for that 1919(what police dept REALLY needs a post-86 belt feed?).

Actually, it doesn't matter whether your "NFA" items have paper work or not.
If the JBT's come to your house to "bust" you and don't find anything, then they have a van full of "throw downs" to make you as guilty as the search warrant suggested.
That's just the way it is. http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/frown.gif
