I bought a 4X power scope and mount from Tapco, which seems to be adequate for my 50-100-200 yds target shooting.
I think that you need to be careful on the scope mounting, so not to interfere with the stripper clips (if you have a fixed clip), or shell ejection. As long as you buy one intented for SKS, you shouild be okay.
I had problems with the scope and mounts coming loose due to the vibrations from shooting, but some liquid lock-tite took care of that.

Scope and mounts for the SKS are sold in alomost every sporting goods magazine like Cabela's, CheaperThanDirt, and Sportman's Guide-just to name a few. Some come as a combo with both scope and mount, some come as just a mount. Get whatever fits your situation; all of them are pretty good.

personally, it's my opinion that for the sturdiest mount without drilling, B-square
has the best one around.
as for scopes, stick with a shorter one if
you plan on using stripper clips.
the Chinese "Red Star" scope is cheap, assuming they still have it available.
hope that helps...

I like Keng's no-drilling Red Star low profile mount. It's see-through so you can still use your iron sights. What I like about it is that it is oversized and the front must be filed to fit your receiver. You can make it real snugh such that it minimizes movement. With rings and 5X scope it costs about $20.

I got a Leapers mount from C-T-D,(chinese)that replaces the recoil spring cover. I added a red dot scope and this combo has been perfect.
Chris,
CDNN has it for $4.99 without weaver rings and for $9.99 with Weaver rings. They may be reached at 1-800-588-9500. You may ask them about a cheapie commie scope (I bought mine with the scope for about $22).
