Does anyone know if East German SKS rifles were ever imported in any quantity into the U.S.? With all the other DDR stuff that's been imported in recent years I always wondered why you never see any of these. Anybody with any info please post.

Lorenzo, I just called the armory where I get all my pre-ban stuff and asked him about this topic. He said he has never seen one and does't think they were imported. He's pretty good on this stuff, but it still is just one guy's opinion. Barry

Most if not all of the former East German arsenals met one of two fates. They were destroyed or they were sold to Croatia, a historical German ally. Croatia, prior to driving out the Serb occupation, put on a military parade showing off a huge arsenal of military vehicles, aircraft, and equipment, all of it coming from the arsenals of East Germany. Shortly after the parade, Croatia began a massive campaign that drove the Serb paramilitary forces out of Croatia proper and they haven't been back since. In the scope of a week, all the territory lost to the Serbian thugs was retaken except for a thin strip that is a buffer zone between Serbia and Croatia at the northern tip. Those East German SKS's are being put to good use. Expect to see them start coming over from Croatia after a few more years, after Croatian arsenals no longer need these venerable old rifles. Let's just hope they don't scrap them or our laws at the time won't keep them from coming in. Croatia is by far the best example why a people should never trust a government that wants to keep them disarmed. The dead will tell you what happens when a government turns on you.
