A couple of years ago, a gentleman who went by the name 'krinkov' (where have you been krink?) monitored a thread whereupon he took a poll to calculate how many SVD's, Tiger's, NDM-86's, Romak-III's, SSG-97's, etc. were owned and operated by board members.
So now that some genius has supplied us with our own board so we don't have to dig through gobs of threads to find out info, .....sound off!!!
I'll start.
I have 1 Russian Tigr, 1 Romak III, and 1 SSG-97.
Hopefully soon I'll aquire a NDM-86. A real SVD would require that I win Powerball.

Got a Romak III and a couple of SVT's I hope to have one of those Zastava's soon (M76 in 7,92 X 57). Oh yeah I,ve got a fake
91/30 sniper too. (recent conversion to sniper not WWII original)

I have a Romak III w/8x PSO (sooo much easier on my eyes than the standard 4x), an SVY-40 Sniper, and a 91/30 ex-sniper (OK, so the 91/30 ex is pushing it).
I drool over the NDM-86s in CDNN's catalog, but I will likely never have one. Likewise the Yugo M76s are beauties.

The tally so far:
SVD's = 0
NDM-86 (7.62x54)= 0
NDM-86 (.308)= 2
Tigr = 4
Romak III = 5
SSG-97 = 1
Yugo M-76 = 2
SVT's = 2
A lot of members don't know this board exists yet so the tally will probably be added to slowly. If I neglect my scoring, feel free to take over and keep the tally going.

I've got a Romanain PSL and an SVT-40. I was just out yesterday with the PSL and still have yet to find a problem with it (I was getting sub-foot groups at 800 meters). 7,62x54R kicks ass, especially in semi-auto!
There isn't a tally for them, but I have 10 Mosin-Nagants of various models and these babies are responsible for the PSL and SVT being part of the collection. The PSL is the only scoped rifle I own also.

A big NO-NO as per ATF. (we might hurt ourselves)
I just purchased a 41 Tula Finn capture (SA marked receiver & mag) with the bolt still in the white. These are getting harder to come by. Now if only I could find a German issue.....

I have a 98% (I've shot it) Norinco NDM-86 that I bought new in 1988 with everything including the maroon / red velvet lined case. The crown jewel of my semi-auto combloc collection though is a mint condition 1981 vintage Izzy proofed Soviet SVD. The rifle is 100% matched with the exception of the scope (still a 100% Soviet piece...just not matched) and came with everything as issued to a Soviet soldier.
Now if Arsenal, inc. built a quality copy I could retire my NDM from range duty!!!

According to my math (which is suspect because I'm a product of the Minnesota government school system), the tally is at:
Russian SVD's 1
Chinese NDM-86 in 54. 1
Chinese NDM-86 in 308 4
Russian Tigr's 4
Romanian Romak III's 7
Romanian SSG-97's 1
Yugoslavian M-76's 2
Russian SVT's 3
I can't keep a tally on the Mosin Nagants as I don't have that many fingers and toes to help me count!

I have an NDM-86, 7.62x54r, manufactured 1985, bought in May, 2002, never been fired. Came with 2 mags, scope, and odd looking hard case (Egyptian hyrogliphics embossed). Since then I aquired SVD sniper pouch set, complete from "Afganistan", and a Russian bi-pod from tantal.

Atak, it sounds as if we both have the same rifle case.. my ndm-86 (in 7.62x54R, made in 1979) came w/ that same case.. it's covered in some type of red vinyl, w/ the hieroglyphics covering the entire surface.. anyone else here have this case? anyone know the history behind it?
in my collection, there are...
1) NORINCO NDM-86 in 7.62x54R
2) NIB NORINCO NDM-86 in .308 WIN
3) RUSSIAN TIGR carbine SVD w/ military buttstock in 7.62x54R
My Norinco 7.62x54R scope case is olive drab green and has the number same number as the buttstock stenciled on both sides. No hieroglyphics though.
I see no date of manufacture on my rifle. Where did you find that? It's a CBI, Ontario, Calif. import.
It looks like there may be some marking under the black paint but I hate to remove that.

01-08-2003, 08:19 PM
Ken, we're actually referring to the rifle case.. it's a hard case.. w/ 2 side latches and 2 locks.. the dual 3 digit combination locks are user programmable.. inside, it's hinged, so that it cannot be opened up all of the way, ie, flat..
as for the weapon date, it's on the underside of the receiver, in the front (before the handguards).. also, it's usually accompanied by the arsenal stamping/marking..
OK, I've seen photos of that rifle case. I didn't get one. I also, on the www.dragunov.net site, saw a photo of the arsenal marking, etc. in front of the mag well. Mine doesn't have it -- just the serial #2020xx. I'm tempted to remove the paint there and see if there is something as it looks like there was and it may have either been polished off or covered with the black paint.
ATAK, Inc.
01-09-2003, 12:29 PM
Ken, if you want to find out if there are any markings hidden under the paint there is an alternative to stripping the paint. Magnetic particle Non-destructive evaluation can be performed to find obscure or hidden marks. This method is used to show markings that have been removed, usually in criminal activities. Any machine shop should have the ability to do this inspection. Also, construction inspection & testing firms and A&P testing laboratories. The test is very quick and fairly inexpensive, and does not harm the weapon in any way. Just make sure to have the part de-magnetized after the test.

Well, guess I'm the only one here with a bolt action com-block sniper: It's a Yugo M48-A with German-made replica of WWII Wermacht lever-detachable mounts and a Russian-made 4X post-and-picket scope.
After much searching found that the Yugoslavians didn't bend the bolt handle further to clear a scope - they just ground it down to clear so that's what I did. Would never have thought of that, but it works and looks good. Very accurate, and looks authentic as hell even though it's essentially a replica. Although since it's my understanding that the Yugoslavians created M-48-based sniping rifles by cobbling together whatever was at hand, I guess at some paradoxical level it actually is completely correct.
I've also got a SAR-3 with a ZFK 4X24 scope, but I don't consider that a sniper rifle. It's accurate enough, but recent events in hte DC area to the contrary I don't consider the 5.56/.223 to be a sniping round.

no you are not the only one that owns bolt action combloc snipers. I posted a post of irritation to the posts that were posted on Sniper country.com because of the ignorance of some bolt action shooters. Personnally I think people that would desparage something that they know nothing about, are basically very small minded people and I don't mean in thinking but in brain size!!!

9. Tula 41 SVT40 sniper (complete) original sniper w/slot on receiver rear & original scope/mount
10. SVD military Drag (KBI import)
11. Hungarian M52 Pu sniper (complete, matching all Hungarian)
12. Czech Vz24 w/bases (looking for mount & scope)
13. Czech Vz54 (Czech derivative of Mosin PU) ultimate Pu variant!
14. Czech Vz52/57 w/NSP2 IR scope in 7.62x39 (original czech military sniper variant)
15. Yugo M48 sniper (original w/zrak mounts & Yugo scope)
16. Yugo M59/66 SKS w/M89 scope/mount (imported in "sniper" config)
17. Yugo M59/66 w/On2 type scope mount (imported in "sniper" confiuration.
missing Yugo M76 (had it but they were recalled, had to send it back, it's now a parts kit!!!)
18. DDR SSG82 5.45x39 bolt gun
19.Romanian Vz24 sniper (has mount & "sanitized" Pe scope)
20 & 21. 2 Import PSL's w/original Romanian scopes, both have the original military barrels, 1 sill has the band/lug for the bayonet but the 'ears" are gone so a bayonet can't be mounted, the other has had the entire lug removed.
22. Chinese NDM86 .308NATO
Still looking for a Chinese SVD in 7.62x54 w/the green velour cased set, a legal M76 in 8mm or Mitchell import, a Polish Pu, & a DDR used Pu, also like to find 1 of the Romanian PSL's that came in pre-ban that CDNN had & originally they listed in their ads as a Soviet SVD!!, this was about 2 years before they got the KBI SVD's, if you look at the early SVD KBI gun ads run by CDNN you'll note that the illustration is of a PSL NOT an SVD! They originally got some PSL's that were complete w/lug muzzle break & full kit, they bought them & sold them as SVD's, they apparently learned quickly that they were NOT SVD's dropped the prices & sold them. A couple years later they got the KBI guns & when they ran the initial ads in Shotguns they used the illustration from the previous guns that were filed as SVD's, after a few inquiries (mine was 1) they changed the ad to an actual SVD, so there are a "few" military configuration PSL's in the country from before the ban!!!

it kinda surprised me too!, I never really sat down & listed the ComBloc sniper rifles alone, scary thing is....... there's more needed to complete the collection!!! Most of these, I'm almost ashamed to admit, I have never fired, a few probably never will be, by me at least, I have a few rifles that I like to shoot & stay pretty much w/them, every once in awhile I take 1 of the "queens" out of storage for a couple rounds, although now that I just retired that may change, little more time on my hands now that I don't work 75 hours a weekl!!! Some of the guns listed above are displayed in photo albums I have on line (I posted this before but in case anyone missed it before) the link is:
http://imageevent.com/willyp the Czech Vz54, Vz52/57, Hungarian M52, DDR SSG82, Mosin Pem side mount, the PSL, & the Soviet SVD (w/pics of various scopes, 1PN58, NSPU, 1PN51, 1P21, also the Chinese, & Yugo M76 for comparison). Hope to add more as time goes on.

I picked up the Rom 3 back in Nov. 2003 and I've had the 91/30 sniper for about 10 years (when they weren't in vogue).
However, you definitely contributed to the crazed spending frenzy on a couple of items !! :D

I own a Romak-3 with a Tapco FCG (BIG difference), POSP 4x8x42 (nice scope BTW) and an inexpensive Leapers 3x9x40 for use at the range (cross hairs easier to use for target shooting) all custom fitted inside my Starlight gun case!
Now a question...
I thought that the Romak-3 = PSL = SSG-97. In other words, they were all Romanian and fired the 7.62x54R round.
What is the difference between them?
Billyjobob

Add one Romak 3 to the list for me. I got the Romak for longer distances and a new SAM-7S for the shorter ones. If it get's too up close and personal, can switch to the Saiga 12. After that, it would be the 9MM pistols.
