I have an idea for a buffer for the SVD, and would like to know if someone is willing to make a mold for one. The company on this board that makes buffers would be a great candidate for this. I would be glad to draw a picture for anyone that thinks he is up to the task of making a mold for this and then cranking some out for the public.

I have been using 1911 reoil buffer on my Tiger and NDM86, its one of those rubberry type buffer, I place two onto the tap below the spring on the reveriver cover and it really dampens the recoil.
The only down side is that the buffer will be beaten up after like 3 session!

I've read of folks who make their own buffers by cutting one out of semi-hard rubber. In fact, I think Blackjack got started as a hobbiest doing this. You could try different materials until you find one that matches buffering with durability.
Actually, as I think of it, why don't you contact Blackjack? He may be interested in an idea like this and give you a freebie prototype for the idea.

I only fired a couple of rounds into my can but definately tamed the recoil some and still reliable. I am going to put it to the test this weekend along with my Romak to see if my feed mods finally work 100%, I think they will.

What do you think the maximum thickness of a recoil buffer for the romak III should be? I have some rectangular rubber pieces to use but I don't want them to be too thick. So far they fit perfectly in the slight recesses in the insides of the reciever(right and left sides) at the rear and go all the way across.

For a ROMAK3 .... use a Blackjack buffer. I do, and it works perfectly - not too large, just right.

i installed a Mas 36 rubber slip on recoil pad on my dragunov.... absorbs recoil plus it increases the pull length.
the pad was only $12 from
