Have not received them yet.Am told they do silence the actions. However, an ex-marine gunsmith at the range says they're not really needed except for full-auto and SKS man's gunsmith supposedly won't fire w/o them-go figure! Will see how they work out-Sorry I don't have more info.

Recoil buffers are insurance policies to extend your rifle's useful life. Use them whenever possible.

the buffer keeps the bolt some smacking the back of the receiver, ive never heard of an SKS that wont fire the gun without one
you may not need one, but there nice to have, and im sure the gun will last a long time without it, but if you look on the inside of the receiver where the bolt hits the receiver you might want to put one on just for the heck of it --HTH

Expect a reduction in recoil about 10 to 20%, every little bit helps.

Due to it's installation position the recoil buffer eliminates metal to metal impact of bolt carrier to the receiver and I strongly suggest a Ak-47 type 74 recoil compensator, pin on type, as well. Felt recoil is reduced and should prolong the life of a scope as well as the inner workings of the rifle. Respectfully, Dadduck
i would just cut one to fit tight in the back of the top cover. use the side walls of an old tire
