I was looking through the Feb. 2003 Guns and Ammo magazine and saw they had an article on the Schmidt-Rubin k-31 ! They said they bought it at Samco , of all places:rolleyes:
The guy who wrote the article said he couldn't find any milsurp ammo for it , except match ammo;)
After reading this article I came to the conclusion that the vast majority of the public don't know about the C&R's out there and the C&R FFL ! I mean i could have told the author of the article of at least 3 places he could have bought ammo for it:D :D :D

Yeah I know what you mean, Matt!
Its frustrating that our hobby is so overlooked by the rest of the gun community.
Someone should come out with a C&R monthy mag, I am sure it would be a success!

Did you guys see the writeup on reloading for 7.62x39? They said in the article that some barrels are .308 and some are .311. This was news to me. I thought it was all .311

C&R Mag would work, if someone had the capital to get it off the ground. The advertising dollars alone could keep it moving.
Heck, look at Shotgun News (which should be called C&R Ad Magazine). With articles and nice 4/C pictures, I'd subscribe in a second. Plus, with classifieds and the like, I think it'd be hit.
And, seeing as I work for a pretty good publication printer, I think I can get you a good rate if someone wants to start it up. Come to think of it, I'm a pretty good layout guy, so once you get the deal going, I volunteer to be artistic director! ;)

hey... if more people buy them... that means less for me!!
and besides.... Neil and Redstar have bought up half the C&R's imported to the U.S.
A magazine devoted to C&R's would be awesome! I think it would do pretty well.
I'll set it up... well, as soon as I find that lottery ticket...:D

Yukon, all foreign made weapons, AK's and SKS's have the .310 to .311 bore. It's the cheap asses at Ruger arms making he Mini 30 that put in a .308 bore barrel. Then they put a very long tapered throat in the barrel to squeeze down proper sized .311 bullets so that they can be fired without blowing up the rifle. That's why mini 30's shoot like sh@t! The bullet jumps too far to get to the rifling and this destroys the accuracy of the weapons.

At ease, you!:D
COL Cooper is about the only real reason I still subscribe to G&A. Since Garry James left, it's nothing but hunting, ATVs and gear I'll never buy even if I could afford to.
At least they kept the "Classic Test" section.
I got a hell of a deal on the initial subscription and it's only $12-13 to renew it each year. So for about a buck a month I get to read COL Cooper and a few other pages here and there...
