I seen an ad for a Russian SVT sniper model, They said sniper because of a mount it has on it. I don't know too much at all about these guns and I'm wanting to know what a good price would be for one in good condition. Thanks guys.

a good price would be 400 or 500 dollars with the side rail if you can find it at that price buy it. But you will probably pay around 600 or alittly higher.

Lockwood, the guy had it priced at $400. Its a private sale too. Want kind of mount would be needed for this? What kind of scope? Thanks.

I'm not sure about the type of mount or scope but I think Sarco or b square might be able to help and that is a great price for one in very good shape and the scope rail as well make sure the rail is in place and that it is not a rivet on one, that would actually degrade the piece. If it does not have a rail then 400 is normal price or there abouts.

at 400 bills it is probably not an original sniper (There would be a notch at the top/back of the receiver. The original mounts are not easy to come by but Sarco has replica mounts with original scopes for mor than the price of the rifle (about $ 550.) The mount slides onto the back of the rifle into cuts (rails) in the sides of the receiver, then a key locks it onto the top back. (hence the notch)

The rifles themselves are fun to shoot even with the iron sights and are pretty accurate. 400 is about the going rate now that these can no longer be imported (Thanks Herr Klinton). Actually the rifles without the grooves for scope mounting are fewer and further inbetween and therefore more desirable to the collector

Thanks, Otto. Good info. I thinking about passing for now. It would be to expensive to scope this rifle. Thats (a scoped gun)is now next on the list.
